In week one we’ll be starting with understanding how a child’s brain develops to respond not to words, but to the time and attention of their parent(s) or carer(s).
Role play is a fun and effective way of helping parents really understand at a deep level skills they are learning in the group.
If the group you are running consists of parents who are shy and/or don’t know each other you can stick to the group discussions as laid out in the timetable for week 1.
However, if you feel comfortable doing role-play we recommend you demonstrate child-led play to your group with your assistant, based on the two scenarios below: How NOT to do role play followed by how to do it.
Intrepid A-listers Nicola and Sarah demonstrate how not to do child-led play, followed by how child-led play can look.
Below is a quick questionnaire to help you check your understanding of the topics covered.
